Lakshmi’s NTR is a biopic of late actor-politician NTR directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

Perhaps this is the only Valentines Day in my life that I was looking forward for. No, I did not find any new love, this is only to celebrate my old love for RGV’s marvels, and one of them is awaiting this date. Since few days, RGV has been tweeting too much about Lakshmi’s NTR to up the ante of intrigue and also promote the movie in his own style. RGV loves to sport in the interest factor of the audience, scratching their itches of curiosity. He does it again now with Lakshmi’s NTR, with an overdose. No sooner did Mahanayakudu makers announce the release date of their biopic, RGV took to his Twitter playground to announce the theatrical trailer of his game, as he promised. But as a tribute to the true love of NTR and Lakshmi Parvathi, he announced a different trailer on the V-day and released it exactly on the said date and time fearing NTR’s rage from heaven.

Like many, I was sure that the trailer would be an interesting watch, for we already know the intention behind the movie and RGV’s reputation of biopic film making. Moreover, his serious oath of showing the naked truth of late NTR’s last phase of life and the pledge to reveal the conspiracy behind his backstabbing struck the right chord with the audience. This conspiracy was something that has been doing round the circles since years and more particularly in the political arena.

The 3-minute trailer chronicles the events of NTRs controversial phase of life chronologically, from the moment Lakshmi Parvathi enters his life till the revelation about the conspiracy. RGVs honesty and sincerity in exposing the dark side of NTRs life is clearly manifested through the trailer. He did not just get the makeover of the actors right, he even got the voices of the characters right, to everyones surprise.

The takeaways from the trailer

  • The family drama is staged well.
  • Vijay as NTR is pitch-perfect. (A great find by RGV)

As told by RGV himself in an interview, he seems to have undergone a rigorous training to get under the skin of the character. His change over as old-aged NTR is commendable, and he achieves near-perfect similarity in terms of looks and demeanor. He gets the subtleties of NTR’s expressions & body language right.

  • Shri Tej s portrayal as CBN.

This casting is another spot on, not in terms of looks but the spirit of the character. He is seen as a wolf in sheep clothing emoting wicked expressions to reveal his intentions to the audience.

  • The crucial moment of Lakshmi Parvathis first meet with NTR.

Yagna Shetty walking upstairs towards NTR (with anklet sound effect) metaphorically meaning her entry into NTRs life and elevating her role in the life of NTR.

  • Viceroy sandal-hurling episode.

The most controversial episode in the history of AP politics and the crucial juncture of NTR’s collapse.

  • Conspiracy revelation — NTR saying the line Naa mottham jeevitham lo nenu chesina oke oka thappu vaadni nammadam expressing the agony, guilt and fury within him.

Technically, the trailer looks good with typical RGV signatures of biopic the prefaces of his favorite philosophical quotations, the camera lighting, the camera angles and the inch-perfect casting of actors.
